Yes, at M2tango you can get instruction in technique lessons in Argentine tango. Our technique classes are on Fridays and are individual lessons without a partner. However, they do not happen every week, so follow us on Facebook and Instagram to be informed when they are published.
The technique lessons are for both leaders and followers, where both parties are trained in the basic techniques and provide better balance, flow and contact.
In the beginner class, you do not need to have any knowledge of tango. We start from scratch. After a beginner class, you will have enough technique to dance at a milonga. You will get the feeling of being able to dance with your partner, use the music and improvise over simple steps. Most people will also choose to switch to our class for intermediates.
In all our classes, we start with a small warm-up. The warm-up is meant as a “rite of passage” so that you get your body and mind in the right place. The warm-up also includes a few dances.
Each class has its own theme, but also a repetition of the previous class’s steps or topic. Along the way, there will be various exercises that will support the day’s theme.
In the middle of the lesson, there is a short break where you can rest your brain and body. It is an important part of our class that we have a break both to get the most out of the class, but also to get to know ourselves and the others.
Not necessarily. We have classes where you can come without a dance partner – you can show up alone. In the other classes, it is important to meet with a tango partner, so that there is always an equal number of followers and leaders. It is an advantage to know your dance partner in advance, so that you know whether you can learn together.
You can come to our intro classes and try to find a partner. The best thing is to ask in your network – you will be surprised who wants to join you in tango. You can also start with one-on-one classes and then go out to milongas, where you build a tango network that could help you find a partner.
We have also created a Facebook group where you can look for a permanent or temporary dance partner: M2tango partner and substitute list.
We usually swap partners during the lessons. We do this to support learning and to cultivate the social aspect.
If you do not want to change partners, this is also possible.
It is not necessary to take an introductory lesson before the class starts. You will naturally be more advanced in the first lesson, as the introductory lesson and the beginner class often have the same content.
For the followers (ladies), it is a good idea to wear shoes with a slight heel, as this makes it easier to walk backwards. The sole should be made of leather or another similar material, so that you can turn your foot.
For the men, it is important to wear shoes that you feel comfortable in. Preferably not too thick a sole, as you will not feel the floor sufficiently. Rubber soles make things difficult and are not recommended – so leave your sneakers at home.
There is no dress code for the lessons themselves. You come in clothes that you feel most comfortable in and can move in. When you go to milongas, you will find that people dress in nicer evening clothes.
Yes, you can always come by for a free intro lesson. Here you can see if tango is something for you. However, we would like to warn you that you may become so hooked on the dance that it will become a lifelong passion. 🙂
Argentine tango is an improvised dance where you dance with changing partners at milongas and practicas – and there are no judges.
There is also the tango that belongs to the standard dances. It is a choreographed and temperamental competition dance, and is therefore very different from the Argentine tango that we teach.
You gain a passion for life and become part of a large community. You learn a lot about yourself and your partner as well as communication and contact as a couple in the dance. You get the opportunity to fine-tune your body and balance.
Argentine tango is a really good way to keep going physically and mentally.

We start beginner classes on an ongoing basis. Time and day are arbitrary, and the beginner classes have a duration of 6-9 times. See the specific times here.
We have season starts four times during the year. The late summer season starts in week 33. The autumn season starts in week 43 after the autumn break. The winter season starts in week 3, and the spring season starts just before or after Easter, depending on when Easter is on the calendar.
At M2tango we have four levels of lessons:
Beginner
Easy
Advanced
Advanced
It is individual how quickly you progress to the next levels. It depends on whether you train at home or supplement your group lessons with tango at the city’s milongas practicas. Read more here.
A milonga is a place where you dance tango. There is no room to stop to practice a specific step.
You usually change partners after a tanda (3-4 tango dances in a row). After 3 to 4 tango numbers, a cortina is played, which is a piece of music that is not tango. During the cortina, the dancers leave the floor and find new partners. The word cortina is Spanish and means a curtain.
A practica is a place where you can practice your tango. There is Guided Practica at M2tango Studio on Saturdays from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
M2tango has made instructional videos for all four levels, so you can practice at home in your living room. The videos can be used to train alone or with your tango partner, so you can practice and improve steps and technique.
You can find the videos here.
Yes, you can follow M2tango on both Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

Yes, you can. If you are unable to attend your weekly lesson, you have the opportunity to take a replacement lesson in a similar class where there is space. Replacement lessons must be held within the relevant season. Cancellations must be reported via our booking system.
You can pay via bank transfer, MobilePay on number: 42461, cash or with DK card at the bar at M2tango, Kapelvej. The lessons must be paid for before the class starts.
In Argentine tango you have a leader and a follower. Traditionally, a man was the leader and a woman was the follower. In M2tango’s classes you can dance leader or follower regardless of gender.
